Capital recording artist Deana Carter stopped by the WXBQ studios to chat with Chuck Marshall on his afternoon show then later performed for some selected WXBQ listeners. Deana told stories about her father, the legendary Nashville guitarist Fred Carter, Jr. She also talked about how she had struggled as a singer and songwriter to be accepted by the music industry in Nashville.
Deana's break into the music business came when Willie Nelson invited her to be the only female soloist at his Farm Aid VII concert in 1994. Then in 1996, Deana's debut CD "Did I Shave My Legs For This?" was released by Capital Records. Since then Deana has enjoyed several top 10 charted hits, a CMA Song of the Year award, and the applause of thousands of country music fans at live concerts all across the nation.
