1st Annual Community Yard Sale May 10, 2008 8am-5pm
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is holding its 1st Annual Community Yard Sale on Saturday, May 10,2008 at the Sullivan County Clerk's Office in Blountville, Tn. from 8am to 5pm rain or shine. There is no admission fee. Space rentals are available to vendors for $10 each. You must provide your own table and or tent. You keep your profit, your space rental helps us battle cancer in our fundraiser.
First Free Will Baptist Church Bake Sale May 10, 2008 8am till 5pm
The First Free Will Baptist Church Seniors will be holding a Bake Sale on Saturday, May 10th at Wal-Mart on the Volunteer Parkway. The Bake Sale will begin at 8am and will go until 5pm or till everything is sold. Come out and get some of the wonderful homemade cakes, cookies and pies.

O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals May 16, 2008 thru May 18, 2008
The O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway will be Friday, May 16th thru Sunday, May 18th. On Saturday evening, after a full day of action at Bristol Dragway with speeds topping 320 mph and covering a quarter-mile in less than five seconds, drivers will venture at a slower pace across the creek to Bristol Motor Speedway. Once there, they will take part in the NHRA Circle Track Challenge, a 25-lap race at the .533-mile oval that will test their skills and give race fans a unique opportunity to see their favorite drag racing stars in a totally different atmosphere. Late Model Stock Car Racing competitors from the UARA-Stars Series return to Bristol Motor Speedway for the fifth time for racing very familiar to fans of local tracks through the area. There will be several different divisions of racing and as an added extra an Appliance Race, American-made stock cars will race with major appliances strapped to the cars, the last car carrying the cargo is the winner. Demonstration and Recruitment Day May 31, 2008 9am till 6pm
The Washington County Life saving Crew will host a Demonstration and Recruitment Day on Saturday, May 31st, at the Abingdon Ambulance Service Building located at 611 Campus Drive, just off of Russell Road in Abingdon. Vehicle Extrication, Rope Rescue Operation, Emergency Medical Care, Helicopter Evacuation and much more will be demonstrated. Wings Air Rescue, Abingdon Fire Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office will also be there. A hot dog will be available and the Crewette's will Host a Bake Sale. Bring the family for a day of fun.

Pam Tillis with special guest Daniel Lee Martin are coming to Freedom Hall to perform a benefit concert. Proceeds from this event will help provide smoke detectors for families, help fund the Community Fire Relief Fund for victims of fire, provide funding for the Childrens Fire Safety program and continue education and specialized training for firefighters. Roan Mountain Annual Rhododendron Festival June 21, 2008 thru June 22,2008
The Roan Mountain Citizens Club will hold it 62nd Annual Rhodendron Festival at Roan Mountain State Park on Saturday and Sunday, June 21st and 22nd.
